Position SummaryThe Product Manufacturing Manager oversees daily operations in the Product Manufacturing Department, ensuring all component production, labeling, and distribution activities meet regulatory standards and organizational SOPs. This hands‑on leadership role supervises staff, coordinates production schedules, maintains product quality, and ensures compliance with FDA, AABB, & cGMP requirements. The Manager partners closely with Quality Assurance, Laboratory, and Distribution teams to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient processing of lifesaving blood components.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise the Product Manufacturing Department, ensuring compliance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
- Train, coach, and evaluate staff; manage work schedules and coverage.
- Interview and recommend candidates for departmental positions.
- Administer time and attendance systems.
- Support annual competency plans and corrective actions.
- Conduct internal audits and maintain audit readiness.
- Oversee development and maintenance of SOPs.
- Manage daily component manufacturing, labeling, and storage.
- Ensure accurate documentation and inventory control.
- Coordinate with hospital and product needs based on inventory reports.
- Prepare for instrument maintenance, calibration, and validation.
- Oversee staff training and competency documentation.
- Monitor and perform monthly Quality Control (QC) testing.
- Collaborate with QA and laboratory teams for product data integrity.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of donor and product information.
- Support Sun Coast Blood Centers’ mission, vision, and values.
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- Minimum five years’ experience in blood banking, component manufacturing, or laboratory operations, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
- In‑depth knowledge of FDA, AABB, cGMP, and related regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to train and mentor technical staff.
- Experience with automated systems and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Florida Clinical Laboratory License preferred.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for laboratory and computer work.
- Work in laboratory and regulated production environments.
- Exposure to biohazardous materials (PPE provided).
- Adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations governing blood banking.
- Compliance with FDA, AABB, and cGMP requirements.
- Employment contingent on successful background check and drug screening.
- Compliance with all organizational policies, including ethics and confidentiality.
