Responsibilities

Opportunity for a Mental Health Therapist to work Per Diem.

Palm tó Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents (ages 11–17) experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family, and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores provide quality mental health treatment for children, establishing healthy behaviors and preparing them to transition back home.

Location:

Manatee County, Southwest Florida, in proximity to larger metropolitan areas.

The Therapist is a key member of the Palm Shores Treatment Team, responsible for conducting therapeutic services for patients. Responsibilities include conducting counseling sessions for families, individuals, and groups; interviewing and developing psychological history; assessing therapeutic needs; developing appropriate treatment objectives; writing monthly treatment summaries; serving as the patient’s primary contact during their stay; advocating with the treatment team; and coordinating discharge.

• Experienced trauma‑focused therapy, neurodivergent disorders, PTSD, mood disorders, and bipolar.
• Good verbal and written communication skills for documenting assessments, treatment planning, and interventions.
• Knowledge of individual, servidoive, and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication, and role expectations within family systems.
• Knowledge of clinical assess‑ment to evaluate treatment dynamics and develop effective treatment strategies within the overall plan.
• Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of child and adolescent needs, with understanding of development stages and treatment requirements for this age group.

• Current state license (Florida) such as LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Registered Intern preferred.
• At least one year of direct clinical experience with family, individual, and group therapy with children and/or adolescents.
• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work or mental health counseling.
• Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre‑employment Drug Test.
