SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Clinical Services and Research Nurse performs and oversees the organization’s therapeutic processes, including Phlebotomy and Apheresis procedures, as well as biological collections to support both hospital clinical treatments and research initiatives. These duties are performed under the management of the Clinical Services and Research Department Manager. This role works closely with physicians and healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care while ensuring strict compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing
Experience: One to two years’ patient care experience in a hospital setting as an LPN/RN

Licenses/Certifications:
- Current Florida LPN/RN with IV certification
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
LEGAL AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
- Florida Compliance: Ensure adherence to Florida’s labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, anti-discrimination laws, and workplace safety standards.
- Privacy and Data Protection: This role requires strict adherence to HIPAA and Florida privacy laws. Employees must complete annual privacy training and ensure all sensitive donor information is handled in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Background Check and Drug Screening: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug testing, as required by the Florida Drug-Free Workplace Act. Candidates must maintain compliance with Sun Coast Blood Centers’ drug-free policies throughout their employment.

Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, including Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR), AABB standards, and organizational policies relevant to blood center operations.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements:
- Tasks may involve moderate physical demands, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and perform other physical tasks as required for the role.
- Tasks may involve extended periods of sitting and working at a computer.

Environmental Requirements:
- The role may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions, including inclement weather, and atmospheric elements.
- Potential hazard is due to exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Sun Coast Blood Centers follows OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standards.
- The work environment is typically moderate in noise level but may include both indoor and outdoor settings.
