Description:
The operating room nurse is responsible for scrubbing and/or circulating duties for operative procedures. This role includes department admissions to the operative suite. The nurse adheres to standards and appropriate aseptic techniques. Consultation and coordination with team members are essential for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating intraoperative patient care plans. This position serves as a communication liaison to patients, families, and members of the operating team.
Preparation of the operating room for the patient and surgical procedure is required. The nurse is responsible for assembling equipment and supplies, ensuring equipment is functional, and verifying that supplies and implants are available. Call is required, 4-5 times per month, including a minimum of one weekend day. Weekday call from 1700 to 0630 is expected with a 30-minute callback time.
Days off will depend on operational needs, with a day off following call if scheduling permits.
