Job Overview

Genesis Sprinklers & Water Management is expanding its services and looking for a Licensed Pest Control Technician to join our mission-driven team. This full-time, entry-level role is ideal for a state-certified applicator ready to shape the future of integrated pest management and sustainable fertilization in Southwest Florida.

You’ll conduct hands‑on treatments, assess turf and plant health, and play a key role in launching a new division dedicated to eco‑friendly, water‑conscious landscape care. As part of our collaborative field team, you’ll integrate with our irrigation crews to deliver holistic, tailored services to high‑end residential and commercial properties across Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely apply fertilizers and pesticides in compliance with FDACS and GI‑BMP guidelines.
  • Perform soil and pest diagnostics to recommend customized, low‑impact treatments.
  • Operate and maintain spreaders, sprayers, and calibration equipment.
  • Collaborate with irrigation techs on bundled services and integrated site strategies.
  • Document all treatments and inspections using digital reporting tools.
  • Help develop departmental SOPs and train junior staff as the division grows.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and ensure their satisfaction on every visit.
  • Drive company vehicles and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and safety.
Qualifications
  • Licensing: Valid FDACS Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Certification (LCLM) and Limited Urban Commercial Fertilizer Applicator Certification (LF), or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience: 1‑2 years in field fertilization or pest control, ideally in Southwest Florida.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiar with local soils, pests, watering restrictions, and GI‑BMP compliance.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to lift 50+ lbs, work in heat and humidity, and hold a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communicator, dependable, tech‑savvy, and passionate about landscape care.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in horticulture, agronomy, or a related field preferred.
  • Compliance: A background check will be completed as part of the onboarding process.
  • Competitive hourly pay: $25‑$35+ depending on experience.
