Job Title: Manager in Training – Part‑time
Department: Operations
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
Reports To: Store Manager
Location: Bradenton, FL
Salary: $15.00 – $15.00 per hour
The Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role requires strong product knowledge across all store departments, determination to achieve the store’s goals and initiatives, and adherence to all policies, procedures, and standards outlined in the visual and operations manuals. The Manager in Training is expected to promote and sell merchandise, deliver outstanding customer service, and serve as an ambassador for Hibbett I City Gear.
In the Store Manager’s absence, the Manager in Training assumes supervisory control and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Provide guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure department profitability.
- Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are met.
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movements and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is consistently maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and follow the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service as highlighted in the customer‑service manual, including greeting customers upon entry and assisting multiple customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer‑service manual, and company memos.
- Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the effectiveness of internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks to management or the appropriate officials.
Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager. Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably with footwear or athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer‑service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team while maintaining overall goals and profitability.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without prompting.
- Strong attention to detail, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision.
