General PurposeThe Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. Tasks include greeting customers, treating colleagues with respect, following company standards, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of functions across store areas as business needs require, including additional duties in specific situations to help meet customer service and operational goals.
EssentialFunctions
- Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, secure shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow associates using company programs.
- Assist customers as needed — be register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers with eye contact, smiles, and friendly language throughout the store and at checkout.
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service, respond to service calls immediately, and involve Store Leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing restrooms) to maintain merchandise, customer and team areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandise items per guidelines, and maintain brand familiarity within departments to assist customers.
- Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards where applicable.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follow MOS (Mark-Out-of-Stock) policies, identify MOS merchandise, process items, and notify leadership for disposal reviews.
- Adhere to cash, check, charge card, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy when handling bankable tenders.

- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; push/pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
