Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for responding to all requests for information and the release of protected health information in accordance with regulatory requirements, hospital policies and procedures, and federal and state statutes. It maintains the integrity of information through the electronic medical record while retrieving confidential patient information and serves as the main receptionist to the HIM department.
Responsibilities- Respond to requests for information and release of protected health information.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and federal/state statutes.
- Maintain integrity of information in the electronic medical record.
- Serve as the main receptionist to the HIM department.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a health information management department with emphasis on release of protected health information is preferred.
- Must understand confidentiality, be able to operate a PC, and be proficient in data entry.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Organized with exceptional customer service and telephone skills.
