School administrator (BD8)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am 4:00pm
Pay: £13.05 £ 13.90 per hour
Contract: Temporary with the opportunity to become permanent
We are currently recruiting for a school administrator to join a specialist education setting based in BD8. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, ideal for someone with strong organisational skills who thrives in a busy, people-focused environment.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality administrative and operational support, ensuring compliance with legal, safeguarding, and data protection requirements, while contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support on a day-to-day basis
- Manage reception duties, including welcoming visitors, handling phone calls, emails, enquiries, and deliveries
- Liaise with internal services such as Finance, HR, IT, Teaching staff, and external agencies
- Maintain accurate records and ensure data is handled in line with GDPR and confidentiality requirements
- Support attendance, welfare, and safeguarding processes
- Assist with school database systems (e.g. SIMS / Provision Map training provided)
- Contact parents/carers regarding a range of matters
- Support senior leadership with operational and administrative tasks
- Take minutes and provide written reports when required
- Assist with open days, events, and general procurement
- Ensure health & safety standards and risk assessments are maintained
- Act as a professional ambassador for the organisation at all times
Person Specification:
- GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- DBS on subscription service, or willing to obtain one.
- Experience working in a school office or similar fast-paced administrative role (desirable)
- Strong IT skills with willingness to learn new systems
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently
- Professional, discreet, and confident handling sensitive information
- Positive, energetic, and adaptable team player
