Job OverviewThe Bradford Institute for Health Research (BIHR) is part of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is a centre of excellence in delivering high quality applied and clinical research. The successful candidate will manage the reception area of the newly created BIHR facility, serving as the first point of contact for patients, staff and visitors.
DetailedJob Description And Main Responsibilities
Responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the BIHR reception from an administrative point of view. Manning a reception and waiting area, the postholder will have a large impact on the research patient/ participant and visitor experience.
Applicant RequirementsThe postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and, as such, the role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.
Person Specification Experience– Essential Criteria
- Previous experience of working in an administrative role (at least 2 years)
- Experience in a customer contact role, demonstrating experience of dealing with public
- Experience of co‑ordinating the work of a unit or department
- Working in a research environment
- Previous experience of working in a reception environment
- Previous NHS experience
– Essential Criteria
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, email and internet
- Excellent keyboard skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Excellent administrative skills
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
- Ability to manage own workload
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately - Able to respond quickly and flexibly to queries and requests for help
- Excellent and confident communication skills and ability to converse with managers and clinicians at all levels including verbal and written communication
- Knowledge of health and safety and security arrangements
- Willingness to undertake further training as required
- Evidence of being proactive and able to problem solve
- Conflict resolution training or equivalent

- At least GCSE level or equivalent Maths and English
- Confident IT skills including good word processing
- RSA 2 or NVQ2 or equivalent qualification
