Apprentice Admin – Outpatients & Phlebotomy Administration Team

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for providing hospital services for the people of Bradford and communities across Yorkshire. We serve a core population of around 500,000 people and specialist services for some 1.1 million. Our 5,500 staff work across several sites including Bradford Royal Infirmary, St Luke’s Hospital, and local community hospitals such as Eccleshill, Westwood Park, and Westbourne Green.

The Outpatients & Phlebotomy Administration Team cover Room Bookings for Outpatient Clinics, Data Entry and Analysis, and Blood Test Appointment Bookings services. The successful applicant will work under supervision as part of the Adult Outpatients/Phlebotomy Administration team to provide administrative and clerical support delivering a high‑quality specialist service. The apprentice will be undertaking a training programme delivered through education sessions, supervised duties and allocated study time, ultimately achieving a Level 2 Diploma in Customer Service within 18 months.

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and efficient support to the Team Leader, completing assigned tasks accurately.
  • Handle enquiries in an effective, polite and efficient manner across all channels (emails, telephone, face‑to‑face).
  • Engage and interact with patients and health‑care providers, ensuring enquiries are resolved courteously and promptly.
  • Use the patient administration system and electronic patient records to access, retrieve and update data accurately under supervision.
  • Participate in training on Trust IT systems, PAS/EPR, and other relevant tools.
  • Carry out any additional duties as required and appropriate to this level.
  • Work towards completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Customer Service and acquire basic knowledge of information governance and confidentiality.
Qualifications

Essential Criteria
  • Education to GCSE standard (or equivalent).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.
  • Keyboard and computer literacy.
Qualifications – Desirable Criteria
  • Previous office experience.
  • IT skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
