Regulation Engagement Lead
We offer a competitive salary, up to £65,000 based on experience.
Private health care (self only). Life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary. Pension scheme up to 12% company contribution. Company car lease/allowance (£500 per month / £6,000 per year). LocationInitially based in Bradford; moving to Leeds Valley Park in September 2026. Hybrid working with two to three office days per week.
Work TypePermanent, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities- Develop clear, detailed internal briefings on regulatory proposals, ensuring stakeholders understand implications and opportunities.
- Coordinate and communicate updates from regulatory engagement, including meetings with Ofwat, the Environment Agency, and other bodies, escalating for Director‑level approval.
- Manage consultation processes end‑to‑end, ensuring they are shared with the right stakeholders, responses are coordinated, and submissions are high quality and on time.
- Work collaboratively across teams—Environment and River Health, Asset Management, Corporate Affairs, and Engineering—to track and influence regulatory opportunities.
- Ensure senior leaders and the Executive are well briefed on regulatory developments, impacts to the business, and recommended positions.
- Support the development of clear, evidence‑based responses that influence regulatory outcomes for the benefit of customers and the environment.
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with regulators, enhancing Yorkshire Water's reputation, trust and credibility.
- Provide oversight of regulatory engagement activity, ensuring key actions, risks and opportunities are effectively managed and communicated.
- Experience working in a regulated environment, ideally within the water industry, with a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and expectations.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence to engage senior leaders, regulators and cross‑functional teams.
- Strong analytical capability, able to interpret complex data and translate it into clear, actionable insight.
- Highly developed writing skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly, concisely and persuasively in regulatory submissions.
- Experience coordinating and drafting regulatory responses, ensuring alignment across legal, engineering and leadership viewpoints.
- Ability to quickly grasp new and complex topics, supported by strong research skills and intellectual curiosity.
- Comfortable working with specialists across multiple disciplines, bringing together evidence and insights to meet challenging deadlines.
- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience, with the ability to support Executive‑level briefings and regulatory engagement.
