Location and Working Hours
Hybrid position with travel to schemes and other offices as required. Covers the North and may be based at the Bradford, Burnley or Stockton offices.
Permanent, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Position OverviewAs the Health and Safety Advisor for the North, you will provide expert health and safety advice and assurance across our social housing operations. You’ll support managers and colleagues to manage risk, ensure safety of customers and employees, and contribute to a strong safety culture across the organisation.
You will deliver colleague safety training programmes, support and advise colleagues, audit to a schedule to monitor and analyse the performance of the health and safety management system, investigate accidents and provide a responsive service to colleagues and customers when they need advice on health and safety matters.
Salary and BenefitsPosition salary: £39,066 per annum (starting at £35,815 if still developing skills, with clear progression to the full amount). Additional car user allowance of £1,250 per annum.

Core responsibilities include:
- Delivering and ensuring health and safety training for staff.
- Providing practical health and safety advice to operational managers.
- Conducting internal audits and maintaining the health and safety management system.
- Investigating incidents and accidents.
- Driving changes to policies and procedures to improve safety.
The essentials
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Deep understanding and experience of current UK health and safety legislation and how to apply them.
- Experience of internal auditing or auditing in a variety of health and safety fields.
- Experience applying health and safety legislation and risk management principles within a housing, social housing, local authority, healthcare, education or other public sector environment.
- Experience providing practical health and safety advice to operational managers in a customer‑facing housing or public sector setting.
- Driven, inquisitive, accountable, open and honest, taking ownership from beginning to end.
- Fantastic relationship building skills to build rapport with all stakeholders.
The desirables
- Experience with in the social housing sector.
- Experience working within a regulated public sector environment such as local government, healthcare, education or housing.
- Customer focused mindset.
- Familiarity with Health & Safety management systems.
