An established UK interior fit-out and refurbishment contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Bradford. The business operates nationally and specialises in shopfitting, bespoke joinery, fire doors, and high-quality interior solutions across commercial, retail, education, and leisure sectors.
With over 50 years' experience and strong in-house manufacturing and joinery capabilities, the company delivers projects through a group of specialist divisions, allowing greater control over quality, cost, and programme. This role would suit a commercially astute professional with a background in shopfitting or interior fit-out who is comfortable managing the full commercial lifecycle of projects.
This is a full-time, office-based position supporting projects from handover through to final account, ensuring strong commercial control, cost certainty, and maximised profitability.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Handover & Contract Management
Attend project handover meetings and prepare the Contract Management Plan in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Obtain approval of the Contract Management Plan from the Commercial Director prior to site commencement.
Review and assess selected subcontractors, identifying value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
Prepare, issue, and manage subcontract orders with full supporting documentation.
Ensure subcontract orders are issued in line with project programmes.
Distribute subcontract documentation to relevant internal departments, including Health & Safety.
Identify, record, and manage contractual changes arising from site meetings, design updates, or client instructions.
Estimate variation values and maintain a comprehensive variations register, tracking references, sources, and financial impact.
Prepare and submit interim valuations in accordance with contract requirements.
Assess progress on site to support accurate valuations.
Initiate invoice preparation following valuation agreement.
Attend regular site meetings to monitor progress against programme and budget.
Record site visits and maintain accurate job file documentation.
Prepare and agree final accounts following Practical Completion.
Submit retention release applications within agreed timescales.
Ensure final accounts are completed and submitted in line with project value and contractual requirements.
Work closely with the Accounts team to support timely collection of client payments.
Maintain comprehensive project records in both digital and physical formats.
Arrange and conduct Post-Contract Review Meetings within 10 working days of project completion.
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator within shopfitting, interior fit-out, bespoke joinery, or fire doors.
Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Competitive salary, dependent on experience ( 50,000 - 60,000)
