We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Part time NHS Locum Consultant colleague to the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery basedat St Lukes Hospital Bradford. The post is for a fixed 1-year period with apossibility of extension. The post holder will be expected to have a broadexperience of the specialty of Oral surgery. This will be a 5.5 PA job plan.
Experience of teaching both under graduates and postgraduates would be an advantage. Applicants must be fully registered with the GDC,fit to practice and able to demonstrate that they have the required broad-basedtraining, experience and knowledge for the post.
Main duties of the jobThe job plan will be a prospective agreement that sets out a Consultant's duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year. The post holder will provide clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. this includes clinics and operating sessions.

Job responsibilitiesThe appointee will work closely with the staff within the unit as well as the multi-disciplinary team.
All Out-patient clinics are held at St Lukes Hospital. All in-patients are admitted to ward 18 at BRI site. The ward is shared with Urology, ENT and ophthalmology. The Day case Theatre activity will be at the Day case theatres on the SLH site.
The post-holder is managerially accountable to The Divisional Clinical Director of surgery CBU. The candidate is professionally accountable to the Medical Director at BTHFT.
The appointee will be expected to participate in the monthly clinical governance and business meetings and will be encouraged to take on trainees as an AES, for which additional PAs can be made available.
Applicants must be fully registered with the GDC, fit to practice and able to demonstrate that they have the required broad-based training, experience and knowledge for the post.

Person Specification Experience- Evidence of completing a period of approved training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
- Ability to perform requirements of the post.
- Successful completion of an SAC-approved 3 years minimum training programme in Oral Surgery or equivalent, or within 6 months of completion (Or Equivalent)
- Experience of post graduate and undergraduate teaching and training at an appropriate level.
- Effective participation in audit and quality improvement
- Ability to appraise scientific literature critically
- Publications in referred journals
- Research relevant to Oral Surgery/Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
- Management of clinical service
- Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
- On the GDC Specialist List in Oral Surgery or within 6 months of eligibility for inclusion
- Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Oral Surgery
- Evidence of training and experience in intravenous and inhalation sedation
- Sufficient experience to practise independently at consultant level in Oral Surgery
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
- Intercollegiate Speciality Membership Examination in Oral Surgery, or equivalent
- MFDS/MJDF or equivalent
- Possession of a medical/dental teaching qualification
- Possession of a leadership qualification
- Intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship Examination in Oral Surgery, or equivalent
