Job Summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Part time NHS Locum Consultant colleague to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery based at St Lukes Hospital Bradford. The post is for a fixed 1‑year period with a possibility of extension. The post holder will be expected to have broad experience of Oral Surgery. This is a 5.5 PA job plan. Experience of teaching both undergraduates and postgraduates would be an advantage.
Applicants must be fully registered with the GDC, fit to practice, and able to demonstrate the required broad‑based training, experience and knowledge for the post.
The job plan is a prospective agreement that sets out a Consultant's duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year. The post holder will provide clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities, including clinics and operating sessions.

- Work closely with staff within the unit and the multi‑disciplinary team.
- All out‑patient clinics are held at St Lukes Hospital; in‑patients are admitted to ward 18 at BRI site.
- Day case theatre activity takes place on the SLH site.
- Managerially accountable to the Divisional Clinical Director of Surgery CBU and professionally accountable to the Medical Director at BTHFT.
- Participate in monthly clinical governance and business meetings and take on trainees as an AES.
- Evidence of completing a period of approved training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
- Ability to perform the requirements of the post.
- Successful completion of an SAC‑approved 3‑year minimum training programme in Oral Surgery or equivalent, or within 6 months of completion.
- Experience of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and training at an appropriate level.
- Effective participation in audit and quality improvement.
- Ability to appraise scientific literature critically.
- Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC).
- On the GDC Specialist List in Oral Surgery or within 6 months of eligibility for inclusion.
- Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Oral Surgery.
- Evidence of training and experience in intravenous and inhalation sedation.
- Sufficient experience to practise independently at consultant level in Oral Surgery.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
- Intercollegiate Speciality Membership Examination in Oral Surgery, or equivalent.
- Publications in refereed journals.
- Research relevant to Oral Surgery/Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
- Management of clinical service.
- MFDS/MJDF or equivalent.
- Possession of a medical/dental teaching qualification.
- Possession of a leadership qualification.
- Intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship Examination in Oral Surgery, or equivalent.
