Applications are invited for 2 substantive Consultant in Palliative Medicine posts are seeking enthusiastic, experienced individuals to join the well established, consultant led specialist palliative care services in Bradford
These new permanent posts each comprise 6 PAs
, including ward-based activity, MDT participation, trainee supervision, patient reviews and SPA time.
This includes responsibility for inpatient care on Ward 24, leadership of the Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP) service, and close collaboration with the Hospital Palliative Care Team, Community Palliative Care Team, Marie Curie Hospice, and the REACT virtual ward.
Main duties of the jobThe consultants based with the hospital palliative care inpatient unit are responsible for:
- The medical care of 6-12 inpatients on ward 24
- Clinical lead for the Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP) service, working alongside the Acute Oncology Clinical Nurse specialist team to co‑ordinate the care of these patients.
- Work closely alongside the hospital palliative care team.
- Clinical admission policies in conjunction with the agreed standard operating procedure.
- Contributing to and developing the existing clinical governance programme.
- Liaison with hospice and community teams as appropriate.
- Supervision, training and appraisal of resident doctors and a physician associate.
- Input to educational activities.
- Contributing to local and regional strategic planning.

Person Specification Experience- Evidence of completing an approved period of training in Palliative Medicine
- MBChB or equivalent, MRCP or FRCS of equivalent to specialty (UK) or equivalent, CCT or within 6 months of AAC date, On Specialist Register with GMC and continue to hold a licence to practice
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
