SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEN School

Engage Education are currently working in partnership with a Secondary SEN School, a highly regarded special school within they are looking to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs. The role is to start immediately.

The School is a nurturing and inclusive setting that provides outstanding education for children and young people aged 11–19 with severe and complex learning difficulties, placing strong emphasis on co-operation, inclusion, and respect.

About the role

You will be supporting secondary-age pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), including verbal and non-verbal pupils
  • Severe and profound learning difficulties (SLD / PMLD)
  • Complex needs, including sensory, communication and behavioural needs

This is a hands‑on role requiring patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to helping pupils achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to create a safe, engaging and supportive learning environment tailored to each pupil’s individual needs.

About you

We welcome applications from candidates who:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Have a strong passion for working in specialist education and supporting vulnerable learners
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of autism and complex learning needs
  • Are proactive, calm and confident in building positive relationships with pupils

Experience with Theatre in Education (TIE), creative workshops, or interactive learning approaches is highly beneficial.
