Unqualified: £30,377 - £32,079

Qualified: £40,705 - £43,476

A specialist recruitment agency is working in partnership with an independent education provider in Bradford to recruit a PSHE Tutor. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a small, specialist provision supporting children and young people who are often described as "hard to reach" and may present with challenging behaviour linked to unmet social, emotional, or educational needs.

The Role

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of an engaging, inclusive PSHE and RSHE curriculum, supporting pupils to develop essential life skills, emotional literacy, resilience, and an understanding of healthy relationships and personal safety.

Teaching takes place across two sites - a main education site and a farm-based provision, offering a varied and therapeutic learning environment. Delivery may include small groups, 1:1 sessions, and outreach-style learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality PSHE/RSHE sessions aligned with statutory guidance
• Adapt learning to meet the needs of pupils with SEND, SEMH, neurodiversity, and disrupted education histories
• Create safe spaces for pupils to explore sensitive topics including relationships, online safety, mental health, and personal risk
• Use trauma-informed and relational approaches to engage pupils who may be disengaged from education
• Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using restorative strategies
• Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with statutory guidance
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and progress tracking

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• A Level 3 qualification or above in education, youth work, health, social care, psychology, or a related field
• Experience working with children or young people who may display challenging behaviour or be reluctant learners
• Experience delivering PSHE, RSHE, pastoral, or life-skills learning (small groups or 1:1)
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
• The ability to build trusting relationships with vulnerable pupils
• A calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent approach

Desirable (but not essential)

• Teaching or youth work qualification
• Experience in alternative provision, independent schools, or outreach settings
• Training in trauma-informed practice, mental health, online safety, or exploitation awareness

Additional Information

• The role requires flexibility to work across both sites, including the farm setting
• Some evening or occasional weekend work may be required
• Enhanced DBS clearance is essential
• A driving licence and willingness to travel locally is required
