We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Support Mentor to join our team in a specialist secondary SEND setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and develop positive behaviour and self-regulation strategies.

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, teachers and support staff, you will help develop and implement behaviour support strategies that enable pupils to succeed both academically and socially.

This is a rewarding role where no two days are the same. We are looking for someone who is resilient, compassionate and skilled in supporting pupils who may present complex , emotional, social and challenging behavioural needs.

About the role
  • To monitor the effectiveness of behaviour support activities and intervention strategies,
  • To plan the deployment of support staff for a range of behaviour support activities with identified pupils,
  • To support and lead specific training for all staff, within the post holders’ level of additional qualification or accreditation
  • To plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals/groups or short term for whole classes and monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupils achievement, progress and development.
  • To work with a range of internal and external professionals to prepare students for classroom readiness
The role would ideally someone who:
  • Has experience working with young people with SEND needs including complex learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Has experience working with young people with SEN associated behavioural needs or social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Calm, patient, and confident under pressure
  • Have experience in education, youth work, care, sports coaching, alternative provision, or similar roles
  • Resilient, proactive, and genuinely committed to supporting young people
