We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join our partnership primary schools within the Beckfoot Trust. Beckfoot Allerton Primary, Beckfoot Heaton School, Beckfoot Nessfield, and Beckfoot Priesthorpe are all vibrant and inclusive schools committed to creating an environment where every pupil can thrive.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils with additional needs, supporting them to access learning and develop both academically and socially. You will play a key role in implementing tailored support strategies, working alongside teachers, SENCOs, and families to ensure each child receives the support they need.
A key aspect of this role is removing barriers to learning through targeted interventions, adapting resources, and providing consistent one-to-one or small group support. You will also support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development, helping them to build confidence, independence, and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND, including those with EHCPs
Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs and learning styles
Support the implementation of personalised learning plans and targeted interventions
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using appropriate strategies
Assist pupils in developing social, communication, and life skills
Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress, behaviour, and well-being
Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Act as a positive role model, building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Support with classroom organisation and general duties as required
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs)
Understanding of EHCPs and individual support strategies
Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach
Ability to adapt and respond to individual pupil needs
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
