Position: Flexible Cover Supervisor

About the role

Justteachers are looking to appoint confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Bradford. This role is ideal for individuals seeking either full-time work or flexible assignments, with a planned start from September 2026 and the possibility of earlier placements becoming available.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will deliver pre-prepared lesson materials, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure a positive and purposeful learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or those with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable secondary school experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise whole classes during teacher absence across various subjects
  • Deliver pre-set work and explain lesson objectives clearly
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Ensure pupils remain on task and engaged with learning activities
  • Respond to pupil questions and provide appropriate support
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding, health, and safety within the classroom
  • Report back to teaching staff on lesson outcomes and any issues
Pre-requisites
  • Experience working with young people aged 11–16 (or 11–18) is highly desirable
  • Confidence managing classroom behaviour independently
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A flexible and professional approach to working across multiple school settings
  • Ability to follow lesson plans and school behaviour policies
  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to undergo necessary safeguarding checks
