Beckfoot Thornton are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support them on a long‑term basis. Beckfoot Thornton have a strong ethos built around the belief that all students can achieve great things, supported by the mantra “No child left behind.” team. As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN department to ensure students with additional needs can thrive in our inclusive and ambitious learning environment.

Beckfoot Thornton are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with a range of needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), through its identified SEN provision. If you're an experienced Teaching Assistant who can confidently support SEN pupils aged 11‑18, this role would be perfect for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support for students with SEN
  • Assist in delivering targeted interventions and personalised learning plans
  • Help create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO, and wider staff to promote inclusion
  • Support students' emotional well‑being, resilience, and independence
  • Contribute to record‑keeping and progress monitoring for individual learners
What We're Looking For
  • A caring individual with patience, emotional intelligence, and a genuine passion for supporting young people
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school experience desirable but not essential)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A proactive approach and commitment to the Beckfoot Trust ethos of clarity, teamwork, and high performance
