We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Lecturer in Progression to Learning & Work to join our dedicated Progression to Learning and Work Department.

Reporting to the Curriculum Team Leader, our PLW Lecturers are instrumental in designing and delivering curriculum material in an engaging and inclusive manner to ensure all our learners have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for students with learning disabilities, difficulties, social emotional and mental health issues, EHCPs and High Needs.

This role would be a fantastic opportunity to move from industry to teaching and candidates with industry experience without formal teaching qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • To design and deliver a wide range of effective and inclusive teaching and learning activities
  • To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback.
  • To seek ways of improving student performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback.
  • To develop and apply innovative approaches to improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods
  • Engage in professional development relating to teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidence-informed approach, which utilises the outcomes of scholarship to enhance teaching practice
  • Contribute to course development and the development of new programmes of study demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery.
  • Contribute to outreach and/or widening participation activity within the Department/ School
  • Produce Plans of learning, lesson plans, assessment plans, varied learning materials and any other related activities that positively impact the effectiveness of learning.
  • Maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning carried out.
  • Plan, deliver and assess high-quality teaching and associated activities on courses and programmes as specified by the Head of School/Department
  • Participate proactively in the design, development and delivery of enrichment and enhancement activity
  • Undertake research and/or scholarly activity that feeds directly into teaching and learning and as agreed by the Head of School/Department
  • To use nurture-based approaches to manage behaviours and support learners
  • Respond to and manage challenging behaviour
  • To liaise with families/carers/external agencies to give pastoral support and drive progress.

Education & Training
  • Level 3 Qualification in a relevant area
  • A relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification
  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
Experience
  • Experience in delivering an employability curriculum to learners with a wide range of needs including EHCP, SEND & SEMH
  • Experience in developing community links and partnerships with employers, charities and community groups
  • Experience of successful teaching/training and the evidence of performance /data to support it (e.g. lesson observations, retention and achievement data), high-grade successes)
