SEND Learning Support Assistant
Location: Bradford
Start: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential for permanent placement)
Milk Education is recruiting compassionate and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistants to work across a range of Primary and Specialist SEND settings in Bradford from September. Our partner schools provide inclusive, nurturing, and structured learning environments where every child is supported to reach their full potential.
This role requires candidates to be available full-time and willing to travel across Bradford to support different school settings where required.
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, graduates looking to begin a career in education, or individuals with transferable skills from care or support work who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and moderate to complex learning difficulties.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access learning and achieve individual targets.
- Work closely with teachers to adapt learning activities to meet pupils’ individual needs.
- Encourage pupils’ independence, confidence, and social development.
- Use visual resources, communication strategies, and sensory approaches to support engagement.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using consistent strategies.
- Support pupils with personal care where required.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and school staff.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Caring, patient, and resilient with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to different school environments.
- Available to work full-time from September.
- Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable.
- Experience with in education, care, youth work, or support services is advantageous.
- A degree in Psychology, Education, Health & Social Care, or a related subject is beneficial but not essential.
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, sensory regulation, or behaviour support strategies would be advantageous; training is available.
