We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Professional & Creative Department as a Curriculum Team Leader for our Sport and Uniformed Professional Services provisions.

This is a key role in developing and managing the College’s curriculum areas. Curriculum Team Leaders are responsible for all operational matters in the linked curriculum areas that are assigned to them.

You will ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of learners, business and the community and that learners receive a high-quality learner experience. You will provide inspirational leadership for staff and students.

Responsibilities include:
  • To be responsible for managing the performance of courses in the curriculum areas, specifically in the areas of student enrolment, retention and achievement targets; quality of teaching and learning; observations, appraisal and staff development; student satisfaction and equality and diversity targets.

  • To ensure appropriate records, registers, staff and student timetables are maintained and available as required by internal management information systems and external audit regimes.

  • To ensure that systems are in place to ensure that effective Initial Advice and Guidance takes place and that all programme MIS data is interrogated to support the achievement of intended outcomes.

  • To be responsible for the overall management of the curriculum team.

  • To undertake teaching at a level agreed with the HoD and Curriculum Area Manager.

  • To be responsible for the business development and recruitment in the curriculum areas.

  • To ensure effective management of the curriculum’s physical resources.

  • Lead and manage the commercial facilities relevant to the curriculum area specialism, i.e. Sports facilities, Grove Restaurant, Signature salon. This would include developing and maintaining stakeholder engagement to enhance the curriculum provision. This may involve weekend and evening work.

  • To maintain a safe and secure learning environment by ensuring regular risk assessments are undertaken.

  • To contribute to the collegial culture, mission and strategic objectives and to work with colleagues in other curriculum and service areas across the College.

  • To support the HoD and the Curriculum Area Manager.

  • Manager in the planning, innovation, design and development of curriculum programmes and cross-college marketing activities.

Education & Training
  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree or appropriate professional qualification.

  • A recognised Level 5 teaching qualification.

  • GCSE 4-9 (A*
    - C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A –

    C) Or prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience
  • Experience in managing curriculum delivery within Further Education

  • Experience in course development and recruitment

  • Experience in student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures.

  • Experience in the interpretation of data sets to inform and enable performance management.
