Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Bradford
Start: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential for permanent placement)
Milk Education is recruiting compassionate and dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to work across a range of Primary schools in Bradford from September. Our partner schools provide supportive, inclusive, and nurturing environments where pupils are encouraged to develop positive behaviours, confidence, and independence.
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, graduates looking to begin a career in education, or individuals with transferable skills from care, support work, youth work, or similar backgrounds who are passionate about helping children thrive.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and promote positive behaviour within the classroom and wider school environment.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils where required.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and become a consistent and familiar presence.
- Encourage pupils to develop communication, independence, emotional regulation, and self-management skills.
- Support pupils to engage positively and consistently with their learning.
- Use calm, consistent, and appropriate behaviour support strategies.
- Work closely with teachers and school staff to support individual pupil needs.
- Encourage confidence, resilience, and positive social development.
- Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Follow school safeguarding, behaviour, and confidentiality policies at all times.
- Caring, patient, calm, and resilient with a genuine passion for supporting children.
- Confident managing and responding to challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent way.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to different school environments.
- Available to work full-time from September.
- Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable.
- Experience with in education, care, youth work, behaviour support, or similar settings is advantageous.
- A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare, Education, Health & Social Care, or a related subject is beneficial but not essential.
- Knowledge or experience of behaviour support strategies, emotional regulation, SEND, or safeguarding would be advantageous.
