Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Part-Time & Full-Time

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK
Salary: £110–£115 per day
Contract: Part-time / Full-time

We are currently seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and supportive school in Bradford.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teaching assistant who is confident supporting pupils across different year groups and can take responsibility for delivering lessons and leading learning activities when required.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Lead whole-class lessons and learning activities when required.
  • Deliver planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
  • Help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation and classroom resources.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
  • Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures and health and safety requirements.
About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA within a school setting.
  • A relevant teaching assistant or education qualification is desirable.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Confidence leading lessons and supporting whole-class learning.
  • The ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • A patient, supportive and positive approach to working with children and young people.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • An enhanced DBS check, or be willing to obtain one.
