Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship - Lapage Primary School

Support students’ learning, development, wellbeing, and safety under the direction of teaching and appropriate staff, including meeting personal, physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs.

Work collaboratively with teachers to implement learning strategies and tailored activities that meet individual needs, supporting students to achieve their learning goals and making adjustments where required.

Monitor, track, and report on students’ progress, achievements, behaviour, and areas of concern, providing accurate and constructive feedback to teachers and the SENDCO to inform planning and assessment.

Support the delivery and monitoring of EHCPs, Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs), Personal Care Programmes, and other individualised support plans.

Assist with assessments, routine testing, marking, record-keeping, and maintaining accurate student information in line with school procedures.

Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, positive attitudes, and self-esteem by setting appropriate and challenging expectations and acting as a positive role model.

Promote inclusion, acceptance, and positive relationships, facilitating students’ interaction with peers, staff, parents/carers, external agencies, and other professionals as appropriate.

Support students with their personal care and hygiene needs where required, including intimate care, while maintaining dignity, respect, confidentiality, and safeguarding at all times.

Supervise individuals and groups of students during lessons, break and lunchtime, in communal areas, and before and after school, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

Monitor and respond appropriately to changes in students’ behaviour, reporting significant or unexpected changes to the relevant staff and consistently applying agreed behaviour strategies.

Maintain a safe, stimulating, and purposeful learning environment by preparing and using appropriate resources, supporting classroom displays, and promoting positive behaviour and values.

Establish positive and constructive relationships with students and communicate relevant information to teachers, parents/carers, and other professionals as directed.

Administer first aid when appropriate and in accordance with training and school procedures.

Promote and safeguard the welfare of all students in accordance with statutory guidance and school/Trust safeguarding and child protection procedures, reporting concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Senior Leadership Team.

Comply with all relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and school/Trust policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, security, confidentiality, data protection, and records management.

Participate in educational visits, trips, outings, social activities, sporting events, and other out-of-school activities where required.

Provide administrative and organisational support to teachers and departments, including maintaining accurate records and using relevant school systems.

Attend meetings, training, and other duties as required by the school calendar, sharing expertise and supporting colleagues.

Contribute positively to the ethos, aims, development, and continuous improvement of the school/Trust, supporting effective systems, procedures, and the wider school community.
