What we do

Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.

We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Occupational Health are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

We're looking for an experienced Occupational Health Adviser to join our Occupational Health & Safety Team. This is a varied role where you'll work with managers and employees across Yorkshire Water, providing professional occupational health advice and support that helps people stay safe, healthy and at work.

Where you fit in

As our Occupational Health Advisor you will

  • You’ll be responsible for managing occupational health referrals, advising on fitness for work, workplace adjustments and rehabilitation plans, as well as supporting wellbeing initiatives across the business.
  • You’ll work closely with managers, HR colleagues and external healthcare professionals to ensure practical and balanced outcomes for both employees and the business.
What skills & qualifications you will need
  • We're looking for someone with significant experience in an occupational health setting, who is a Registered General Nurse (RGN) and holds a recognised Occupational Health qualification with registration on Part 3 of the NMC register. You’ll be confident managing your own caseload, building effective relationships and providing clear, evidence-based advice on a range of occupational health matters.
  • Experience working in utilities, manufacturing, engineering or another operational environment would be beneficial, but most importantly you’ll be passionate about helping people and promoting a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture.

Although we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it’s important to us that we support flexible working patterns and job share options (when we can), to help you make the best of both your work and home life. We know that juggling childcare responsibilities or getting that ideal work/life balance isn’t always easy!

Do we sound like your cup of tea?
