Role Overview
The Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer will play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and improving a wide range of production machinery. The position has a strong electrical bias, and the ideal candidate will be confident working with PLC systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics. The engineer will support both reactive and preventative maintenance activities while contributing to ongoing reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery and supporting equipment.
Respond promptly to mechanical and electrical breakdowns to support operational continuity.
Fault‑find and interrogate PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley, similar).
Diagnose and repair faults on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Carry out electrical maintenance including installations, panel work, component replacement, and testing.
Read, interpret, and work from electrical and mechanical schematics.
Maintain accurate engineering logs, maintenance records, and documentation.
Take part in continuous improvement work focused on machine reliability and process optimisation.
Work collaboratively with operations and production teams to deliver engineering solutions.
Ensure all work complies with site health & safety standards and statutory regulations.
Beneficial Skills /
Qualifications:
Time‑served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering (NVQ Level 3, HND, HNC, etc.).
Multi‑skilled background with strong electrical bias.
Hands‑on experience maintaining manufacturing or processing machinery.
Competent in PLC fault‑finding (not necessarily full programming).
Good working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
Ability to problem‑solve efficiently under pressure.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Experience with in FMCG, packaging, or high‑speed automated environments.
Knowledge of robotics, servos, sensors, or industrial automation.
18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Experience using CMMS systems
