HVAC CAD Engineer: 3D Modeling & Fabrication Drawings

Overview & Role

A leading HVAC business is seeking a CAD Engineer to support ongoing project demand. Working as part of an established engineering function, you will translate technical concepts into accurate 3D models and produce GA and fabrication drawings for large, bespoke fabricated systems including acoustic enclosures, plant housings and cooling equipment. The role covers the full design lifecycle, from initial modelling through to manufacturing issue and as-built revisions, with regular interaction across engineering, production and project teams.

A strong grounding in fabrication and mechanical design is essential, with a focus on buildability, accuracy and cost-effective design.

Requirements

• Advanced user of Autodesk Inventor and Vault (essential)
• Proven experience producing detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings (majority of role focused on CAD output)
• Background in heavy fabrication, structural steel assemblies or sheet metal design
• Experience working on bespoke engineered-to-order products
• Understanding of HVAC / air movement products advantageous
• Ability to produce GA drawings, fabrication drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Commercial awareness with the ability to design within cost constraints
• Confident in liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders

Package

• 35,000 - 45,000 salary (depending on experience)
• Full-time, permanent position (38.25 hours per week)
• Office-based role in Bradford
• Occasional site visits and customer interaction as required
• Exposure to large-scale, technically complex projects
