As an Environmental Test Technician, you will support the Environmental Engineers, set up and conduct trails and at times lead trails with Technicians in accordance with the trail instruction, customer specification and ETC procedures to successfully deliver trails. Day‑to‑day, you’ll support the Environmental Engineers on trails delivery, engaging with the Project Engineers and customers where required, taking ownership, defining trail requirements and providing overall support.

• Setting up and conducting trails within your competence in accordance with the trails programme, using trail instructions, customer specifications and ETC working procedures
• Checking all materials, equipment, instrumentation, rigs and fixtures and ensuring the test asset will be available in advance of the scheduled trails start date, informing of or acting on any shortfall in what is required
• Supporting all the environmental trail activities in accordance with the environmental trails programme
• Supporting the Team Leaders to achieve effective workforce planning by reviewing the upcoming workload on your trail to maximise resource deployment and trail delivery
• Making yourself available to other areas of the business when required to best suit the needs of the business
• Developing yourself so you become multi‑skilled across the different Environmental Testing sections in support of a resilient flexible capability

• A good understanding of general engineering principals
• Strong problem‑solving skills
• The ability to collaborate and understand stakeholder’s needs and active interest in broader business operations and communities
• Demonstrable behaviours such as integrity, dedication and initiative

• HNC/HND or Degree qualification desirable, further study in a field of engineering or equivalent experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Shoeburyness site and is fully on‑site.

QinetiQ Shoeburyness is a significant test and evaluation facility specialising in defence and security technologies. The site is focused on Environmental Testing including the evaluation of various ordnance, explosives and related systems. Implementing measures to ensure that testing activities comply with environmental regulations and minimise ecological impact.

Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
