Job Introduction

The street lighting unit comprises a design, maintenance and operational staff as well as our sign shop. This creates a wide range of duties and roles for our staff with lots of variety working across the whole of the district.

Role Description

We are looking for Street Lighting Operatives to join our dedicated team in the Department of Growth. These roles offer an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city. Following the recent Smart Street Lighting project implementation, you will be maintaining the street lighting assets to ensure our highways are well lit for our residents and highway users.

Main Responsibilities Of This Role
  • Working as part of a team carrying out maintenance and installation of street lighting and other highway electrical equipment
  • Testing and fault diagnosis of street lighting columns, signs etc. and ensuring compliance with IEE wiring regulations.
  • Surveying equipment and producing reports in written or electronic format and updating information on the asset management system
  • Driving of various vehicles including MEWPS, LGV/HGV's, and other special sit plant.
  • Participate as required in the street lighting emergency response and winter maintenance operations.
