Job Description MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
We are recruiting for a Design Engineer to work for our client who are based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. This role is well suited to an engineer with experience in special purpose machinery, food processing equipment, automation, or industrial machinery, particularly someone who is confident designing complete mechanical systems in Solid Works and working from concept through production.
THE DUTIES OF A DESIGN ENGINEER:- Design manufacturing equipment using Solid Works 3D CAD.
- Develop prototypes and conduct testing to ensure performance, reliability, and safety.
- Create manufacturing documentation including:
- 2D engineering drawings
- Assembly drawings
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Customer Procurement (CP) drawings
- Work closely with manufacturing, fabrication, operations, and project management teams.
- Support production during manufacturing and resolve design issues.
- Manage design changes and maintain accurate engineering documentation.
- Perform design-to-cost calculations and prepare technical reports.
- Research competitor products and contribute to new product development.
- Provide occasional on-site customer support, including presentations and fault finding.
SKILLS:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design engineering.
- Strong proficiency in:
- Solid Works
- CAD
- Microsoft Office
- Experience taking products from concept through prototype to manufacture.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
HOURS:
Working on days Monday to Friday: 8:00 am – 4:30pm = 39 hours per week. This can be adjusted to suit travel time.
THE PAY:You will earn an annul salary between £40k-45k per annum
