Our 4-year Engineering (Design and Manufacture) Graduate Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to contribute to some of the UK’s most important defence programmes, all while working towards a BEng (Hons) degree and building a rewarding career in Electrical Engineering.
About the programmeYou'll join a skilled engineering team working across a diverse range of platforms, including ships, submarines, and land-based facilities. Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll support a variety of projects, working alongside specialists and gaining insight into the technologies that power some of the UK's most complex engineering programmes.
As part of the Marine Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) and Mission Systems (MS) Group, you'll rotate through different teams and projects, building an understanding of how the different electrical systems are developed, integrated, and supported throughout their operational life. From power and control systems to navigation, communications, and mission‑critical technologies, you'll experience a broad range of disciplines before discovering where your interests and strengths lie.
Supported by experienced colleagues throughout the programme, you'll contribute to activities such as conducting feasibility studies, tackling obsolescence issues, problem solving and systems integration on a variety of platforms. This varied experience will help you develop a strong understanding of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation and Mission Systems engineering in a marine environment and build the technical knowledge needed for a successful career in the industry.
