Senior Planning Officer
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Officer to support the preparation, delivery and implementation of an up-to-date and effective Local Plan based in Bradford.
The role will involve leading on key planning policy areas, preparing Local Plan and related planning documents, providing policy advice and guidance, and developing monitoring and data systems, including GIS and digital information.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and contribute to Local Plan documents, Neighbourhood Plans and Supplementary Planning Documents.
- Lead on key planning policy areas such as housing, employment, environment, retail, transport or infrastructure.
- Prepare evidence for planning examinations, inquiries and hearings, including acting as an expert witness where required.
- Provide planning policy advice and appraise development proposals against relevant planning policy and guidance.
- Develop and maintain performance monitoring, data collection and GIS systems.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and committees.
- Work with internal teams, external partners and other organisations to support strategic planning objectives.
- Monitor changes in planning legislation, policy and guidance.
- Educated to degree level and eligible for corporate membership of a relevant professional body, such as the Royal Town Planning Institute or another relevant organisation.
- At least 3 years' post-qualification experience in planning, with a focus on Local Plans and planning policy.
- Experience of complex planning policy or programme work, including plan preparation and implementation.
- Experience of briefing and presenting proposals to senior stakeholders or elected members.
- Experience of preparing evidence or acting as an advocate at Local Plan examinations or hearings.
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation, Government planning policy and plan-making procedures.
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical and communication skills.
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
Pay: £35.98 per hour
