Job summary

The department is well equipped, including Sysmex XN 3000, ACL TOP 550s, and Alifax Test1 analysers. The Transfusion department is fully automated with 2 Ortho Visions and electronic issue of blood products via Blood Track.
The department operates a 24/7 service utilising a 37.5 hour continuous process pattern (CPP) shift system in which you will be required to fully participate, after suitable training.
Opportunities for further study and CPD are strongly supported. The laboratory has full UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189:2022, and is approved for training by the IBMS.
Main duties of the jobAiredale NHS Foundation Trust (ANHSFT) and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT) are high-performing organisations providing acute and specialist outreach services to local communities. Together, they have formed Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP (IPS), a joint venture delivering high-quality pathology services to both Trusts and other healthcare providers in the region.
The successful candidate will work primarily within the Blood Transfusion department, with some rotational responsibilities across Haematology. A solid working knowledge and experience in Blood Transfusion is essential for this post.

Person Specification Qualifications - Essential- Biomedical Science degree or equivalent qualification
- HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist
- IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology/ Blood Transfusion or equivalent qualification Haematology/ Blood Transfusion or experience that evidences work at equivalent level
- Membership of professional body such as IBMS.
- Significant discipline specific experience and knowledge.
- Experience of working within a Haematology/ Blood Transfusion laboratory
- Evidence of Continuous Profession Development
- Experience of Pathology IT systems
- systems Experience of Pathology Quality management systems
- Experience of working with NHS Clinical Haematology/ Blood Transfusion
