Job Summary
Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is excited to welcome an experienced Educator in Psychology to join our dynamic Psychotherapy team. This is a unique opportunity to work autonomously while collaborating closely with our Consultant Medical Psychotherapists to support and train resident doctors in meeting their Royal College of Psychiatrists' Psychotherapy competencies.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high‑quality clinical supervision and engaging seminars to Higher Psychiatry Trainees.
- Provide specialist, evidence‑based psychological therapies, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
- Offer expert clinical leadership, consultation, and advice on psychological therapies across all localities.
- Support and guide healthcare professionals through your specialist expertise.
- Promote adherence to NICE guidelines and uphold clinical governance standards.
- Work alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy to support service development, teaching, research, and innovation.
- Offer consultation and advice to mental health staff across the Trust regarding suitable referrals of patients for psychotherapy.
- Offer patients consultations to assess suitability for psychotherapy.
- Be aware of required levels of competency of Resident doctors and Psychotherapy aspect of Psychiatry curriculum.
- Work with Consultant medical psychotherapist/s to offer psychotherapy teaching seminars to Resident and Higher trainee grades.
- Organise and run supervision groups for resident doctors seeing their psychotherapy long cases.
- Co‑facilitate Balint groups.
- Be responsible for the timely completion of WPBA for resident doctors.
- Ensure high standards of clinical governance practice of resident doctors (overseeing risk assessments, note keeping, letters).
- Recognise resident doctors who are struggling in their work, professionally and personally, and ensure they receive appropriate support.
- Highlight to Consultant medical psychotherapist any trainees of concern.
- Work with autonomous clinical judgement to manage a designated caseload of patients with responsibility for their assessment (including clinical risk), implementation and evaluation of therapy.
- Delegate tasks to staff within their competency and ensure that the delegation/escalation process forms part of the culture of the service.
