Act in an advisory and supportive capacity to Estates and Facilities Managers (excluding Capital Projects) and staff on Health & Safety legislation, identification of workplace hazards, appraisal of Health & Safety risk, advising on effective control measures and monitoring performance.

Applicant Requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and therefore must undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020.

Person Specification - Experience
  • Significant experience and working knowledge of general health and safety standards.
  • Clear understanding of health & safety legislation and regulations appropriate to the Estate.
  • Experience undertaking risk assessments.
  • Experience managing a large workload without supervision.
  • Experience working under pressure, meeting deadlines and self‑managing workload.
  • Experience delivering training to staff groups and individuals.
  • Experience working in an acute hospital or healthcare environment.
Person Specification - Skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with both groups and individuals.
  • Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to undertake and provide advice on completing appropriate risk assessments.
  • Capability to set up monitoring systems and databases for risk assessment oversight and incident investigations.
  • Skill in conducting investigations in line with Health & Safety regulations, communicating findings and preparing reports.
  • Strong understanding and application of health and safety legislation (statutory, implied, best practice) within an acute healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
  • Analytical and data‑presentation skills in written and presentation formats.
  • Ability to prioritise and coordinate workload efficiently.
  • Flexible attitude and can‑do approach.
