Specialist Biomedical Scientist- Haematology & Blood Transfusion

We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and forward-thinking individuals with strong organisational skills, practical competence, and a solid scientific foundation. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities are required, along with the capacity to contribute effectively both independently and as part of a team. The department is well equipped, including Sysmex XN 3000, ACL TOP 550s, and Alifax Test1 analyzers. The Transfusion department is fully automated with 2 Ortho Visions and electronic issue of blood products via Blood Track.

The department operates a 24/7 service utilising a 37.5 hour continuous process pattern (CPP) shift system in which you will be required to fully participate, after suitable training.

Opportunities for further study and CPD are strongly supported. The laboratory has full UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189:2022, and is approved for training by the IBMS.

Airedale NHS Foundation Trust (ANHSFT) and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT) are high-performing organisations providing acute and specialist outreach services to local communities. Together, they have formed Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP (IPS), a joint venture delivering high-quality pathology services to both Trusts and other healthcare providers in the region.

The successful candidate will work primarily within the Blood Transfusion department, with some rotational responsibilities across Haematology. A solid working knowledge and experience in Blood Transfusion is essential for this post.
