We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, forward thinking and dynamic individual to be part our Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Services. We are recruiting across our community rehabilitation services. The role of the Therapy assistant is to support the Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy team in delivering their interventions. The post holder may also support the wider multidisciplinary teams with more generic tasks when required.

Main duties of the job

To deliver a high standard of health care supporting both Occupational therapists and Physiotherapists, together with the wider MDT, to assess, plan and implement a range of therapeutic interventions to improve the physical, cognitive and functional ability, mood and well-being of patients.

The right candidate will have experience in working in health and/or social care settings who had an awareness of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and can work effectively as part of a MDT.

To manage a delegated caseload delivering physiotherapy and occupational therapy independently treatment goals independently and with guidance evaluating and adapting interventions.

To facilitate safe and timely interventions.

To manage and prioritise own caseload delegated by qualified therapists / MDT.

To contribute to team and service development.

To contribute to training and support to other team members and students.

  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Experience of working as a healthcare/ therapy assistant
  • Experience, knowledge and awareness of patient care/need e.g. patient monitoring
  • Experience of dealing with members of the public
  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • Experience of working in a rehabilitation environment

Qualifications
  • Care certificate
  • Minimum NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or in Care *

  • Professional appearance in accordance with Trust policy
Knowledge
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
  • Good understanding of health care relevant to the potential client group
  • Understands the limits of the job role. Has the ability to recognise situations that require reporting and demonstrates the ability to elevate to a senior person where appropriate
  • Ability to carry out and report on observations/tests
