Information Governance Assistant
Join the Yorkshire Water Data Protection team as an Information Governance Assistant and support the protection of information across the Kelda Group. The role involves implementing data protection and environmental information regulations, responding to information requests, and ensuring staff compliance.
LocationButtershaw / Hybrid – 2 days in the office per week (initially Bradford, moving to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026).
Employment typePermanent, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
About the role- Support the Data Protection Officer in ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, and EIR 2004.
- Lead and coordinate the implementation and monitoring of EIR and DPA requests, applying exemptions where required.
- Develop and maintain DPA, EIR, and Open Data policies and procedures in collaboration with Legal and other stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact for subject access, EIR, and Open Data queries and translate policy into actionable guidance.
- Provide advice to staff and departments on protecting personal and business‑sensitive information.
- Support the data privacy impact assessment process.
- Ensure staff complete mandatory information security training and produce compliance reports.
- Assist with information security incident response and participate in governance projects.
- Degree level education or equivalent relevant experience.
- Broad understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR.
- Understanding of the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
- Knowledge of information security best practices.
- Practical experience developing and implementing policies and procedures.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
- ISEB qualification in Data Privacy, Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection, or CISMP or equivalent.
- Experience with subject access and EIR requests.
- Experience carrying out compliance activities such as reviews and audits.
- Knowledge of information security technologies, vulnerabilities, and malware.
- Competitive salary: £33,597 – £41,997 depending on experience.
- Annual incentive bonus up to £1,000.
