About the Role
We areseekinga reliable and proactive IT Support Technician to provide day-to-day technical support to staff and ensure the smooth operation of our organisation’s IT systems and equipment.
This role willbe responsible for supporting staff with IT issues, managing user accounts and devices,maintainingIT hardware, and ensuring systemsremainsecure and operational. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting staff across the organisation and ensuring that IT resources are set up correctly andmaintainedto a high standard.
Key Responsibilities Hardware & Device Management- Set up and configure laptops, monitors, docking stations, keyboards, and other IT equipment for staff.
- Configure and deploy mobile phonesand other devices used by employees.
- Install operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, andrequiredbusiness software.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware faults or arrange repairs where required.
- Maintain office printers and troubleshoot printing issues.
- Configure network printers and manage staff access to shared printers.
- Create,modify, and remove user accounts across Microsoft 365 and internal systems.
- Assignappropriate systempermissions and access rights in line with company policies.
- Manage password resets and account access issues.
- Ensure accounts are disabled and access removed promptly when staff leave the organisation.
- Prepare laptops, user accounts, and system access for new starters before their first day.
- Ensurenew staffhave the correct access to systems and applicationsrequiredfor their role.
- Recover equipment and disable accounts for leavers.
- Coordinate with management or HR to ensuretimelyonboarding and offboarding.
- Provide first-line IT support to staff experiencing technical issues.
- Diagnose and resolve problems relating to:
- Laptops and desktop computers
- External monitors and docking stations
- Printers and scanners
- Microsoft 365 applications
- Internet and network connectivity
- Escalate complex technical issues to external IT providers when necessary.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all IT equipment including laptops, phones, monitors, and peripherals.
- Track device allocation to staff members.
- Manage the return, reallocation, and disposal of IT equipment when required.
- Install approved software applications on staff devices.
- Ensure systems receive required security updates and software patches.
- Assist staff with troubleshooting software-related issues.
- Assist with troubleshooting network connectivity issues including Wi-Fi and wired connections.
- Provide basic support for office networking equipment where required.
- Work with external providers to resolve network or internet service issues.
- Ensure laptops, mobile devices, and other equipmentcomply with company security standards.
- Configure device security settings such as encryption, password protection, and antivirus software.
- Support the implementation of device management and security policies.
- Assistwithmaintainingdata backup procedures where applicable.
- Support staff with basic data recovery requests when possible.
- Maintain documentation of IT systems, device configurations, and procedures.
- Record common technical issues and solutions to improve support efficiency.
- Contribute to improving internal IT processes and workflows.
- Liaise with external IT suppliers and service providers for equipment procurement, repairs, or technical support.
- Coordinate with vendorsregardingprinter servicing or hardware maintenance.
- Assist with IT system rollouts, device upgrades, and technology implementations.
- Support organisational IT improvements and digital initiatives where required.
- Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting Windows laptops and Microsoft 365
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues
- Knowledge of user account administration and permissions
- Basic understanding of networking and printers
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical staff
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Admin Centre
- Experience supporting SharePoint or Microsoft Teams
- Experience with device management tools (e.g. Intune or similar)
- ExperiencemaintainingIT asset inventories
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple support requests effectively
- Reliable and trustworthy when handling company systems and data
- Proactive approachtoidentifyingand resolving issues
