About

The Role

We are seeking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our Estates and Facilities team as a Community Cleaner. If you are looking for part‑time work, Monday to Friday, and want to work for the NHS using your own initiative, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide an effective and efficient cleaning service in line with NHS National Standards of Cleanliness.
  • Work independently, following cleaning schedules and infection prevention guidelines, performing tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and waste disposal.
  • Safe use and storage of industrial equipment (vacuum cleaners, water extraction machines).
  • Adhere to safe working practices as outlined in Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) procedures.
  • Maintain cleaning schedules: damp dusting, high/low level surfaces, vacuuming, mopping and carpet cleaning in clinics, offices, toilets/bathrooms, kitchens, corridors and general rooms, prioritising workload when necessary.
  • Complete cleanliness audit actions in a timely manner; ensure audits are signed and filed logically.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of cleaning materials; ensure deliveries of store orders.
  • Maintain water quality by flushing infrequently used outlets (taps, showers, toilets) and completing appropriate documentation.
  • Remove general, recycled, and clinical waste and dispose in the appropriate compound.
  • Report building/equipment faults and repairs to clinical/departments leads, building custodians, or via Facilities Service Desk or line manager.
  • Maintain building security where necessary (e.g., setting alarms); may be assigned as key holder.
  • Adhere to lone working policy where applicable.
  • Sign in/out when entering the building (where applicable).
  • Complete personal timesheet where necessary.
  • Raise matters of non‑compliance to clinical/departments leads, building custodians, line manager.
