Duty Manager

Overview

To support our Operations teams in delivering a world‑class welcome, we are looking for a Duty Manager at NSMM, working 14 hours a week across Sundays and Mondays.

As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the Museum, ensuring the health and safety of all public spaces and supporting visitor‑facing teams to deliver a high‑quality experience for all visitors. You will:

• Line‑manage the Visitor Experience team.
• Conduct regular walk‑arounds, engaging with staff and visitors.
• Apply problem‑solving skills and flexible thinking to take control of incidents as they arise.
• Champion our values with visitors and staff, supporting the mission to keep the NSMM welcoming and inclusive.

You should have:

• Strong problem‑solving and flexible approach, and an ability to develop people and teams.
• Good communication skills and the ability to motivate and develop people and teams.
• Flexibility, adaptability and the capacity to deal with difficult situations.
• Experience working within or implementing Health and Safety policies.
• Ability to work well within diverse teams and build effective working relationships.
