Junior Chemist

We are looking for a scientist with a passion for process chemistry to support the scale-up and manufacturing of home care and personal care formulations sold under the Astonish and Moss and Adams brands.

In this Junior Chemist role you will be involved in the process development and production optimisation of all Astonish and Moss and Adams products. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to work collaboratively, working closely with manufacturing, assisting in the optimisation of methods to minimise batch times, maximise yields, improve quality, reduce costs and maximise ease. And with the Development Chemists to support the scale up of laboratory formulations to successful full‑scale production.

This role will build expertise in process chemistry, formulation science and product testing.

The company has expanded in recent years after investment in automation and new manufacturing capabilities. • Investigates and optimises existing product formulations and methods of manufacture
• Works with development chemists on the scale‑up and first production of new formulations. Ensuring products are made to specification
• Assesses new sources for existing chemicals
• Manages the calibration and maintenance programme for laboratory equipment
• Runs QC testing, stability testing and records batch and raw material data
• Manages weekly microbiological testing

• Degree (BSc/MSc) in a science based subject or demonstratable relevant scientific experience in formulation chemistry
• Commutable to Bradford
• Ability to work in a fast paced FMCG environment
