We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK engineering and manufacturing business looking to add an experienced Mechanical Fitter to its team.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong mechanical background who takes pride in producing high-quality work. You'll be joining a busy engineering environment where safety, quality and attention to detail are essential.

As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll be responsible for the mechanical assembly, fitting and installation of engineered equipment and components, working from technical drawings and specifications.

The Role:
  • Carrying out mechanical fitting and assembly of equipment and components
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions
  • Using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment safely and accurately
  • Drilling, tapping, bolting and general mechanical assembly
  • Ensuring components are correctly aligned, fitted and secured
  • Carrying out inspections and checks throughout the assembly process
  • Identifying and reporting defects, faults or issues during fitting and assembly
  • Working closely with engineering, production and quality teams
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and housekeeping
  • Following site health & safety procedures at all times
What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Assembly Fitter or similar
  • A mechanical engineering or manufacturing background
  • Experience working from engineering drawings
  • Good practical knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques
  • Confidence using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment
  • A strong understanding of health & safety within an engineering environment
  • Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

A relevant mechanical engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience would be advantageous.
