Mechanical Fitter

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK engineering and manufacturing business looking to add an experienced Mechanical Fitter to its team.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong mechanical background who takes pride in producing high-quality work. You’ll be joining a busy engineering environment where safety, quality and attention to detail are essential. As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll be responsible for the mechanical assembly, fitting and installation of engineered equipment and components, working from technical drawings and specifications.

The Role:

Carrying out mechanical fitting and assembly of equipment and components Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions Using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment safely and accurately Drilling, tapping, bolting and general mechanical assembly Ensuring components are correctly aligned, fitted and secured Carrying out inspections and checks throughout the assembly process Identifying and reporting defects, faults or issues during fitting and assembly Working closely with engineering, production and quality teams Maintaining high standards of workmanship and housekeeping Following site health & safety procedures at all times

What We’re Looking For:

Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Assembly Fitter or similar A mechanical engineering or manufacturing background Experience working from engineering drawings Good practical knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques Confidence using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment A strong understanding of health & safety within an engineering environment Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team A relevant mechanical engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience would be advantageous.
