An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring nurse looking to develop their clinical and leadership skills and undertake the role of a Chest Pain Assessment Support Nurse, to join our already established Specialist Nurses team in Cardiology.
This role will allow the post holder to develop their skills and provide Cardiology in‑reach across a number of services including the Emergency Department, the Acute Medical Unit, the Same Day Emergency Care Unit and Cardiology.
You will help deliver the Chest Pain service at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust by providing specialist knowledge and expertise both in the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic and in the Acute Chest Pain Service.
Main duties of the jobThe Chest Pain Assessment Service is available 7 days a week between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual who can work autonomously and independently, providing professional advice and clinical expertise while ensuring the best care, environment and patient experience. The role also requires accurate completion of audit relating to the service to support service improvement.
- With guidance from the Band 7 Chest Pain Assessment Nurse, provide Cardiology nursing support and expertise to in‑patients with chest pain and acute coronary syndromes within Urgent Care, liaising with other key health care professionals within the trust.
- With guidance from the Band 7 Chest Pain Assessment Nurse, provide a Rapid Access Chest Pain Service to out‑patients to ensure swift assessment and appropriate investigation into angina, working to agreed protocols.
- Ensure dissemination of protocols and train staff where required in their use.
- Work alongside other specialist cardiac nurses to provide a comprehensive and seamless service.
- Assist the Band 7 Chest Pain Assessment Nurse to maintain a comprehensive audit of workload and outcomes for patients.

- We are one team.
- 2 years' experience in Cardiology.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Good organisational and time‑management skills.
- Advanced life support.
- IV skills and cannulation.
- ECG interpretation.
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality.
- NMC Registration.
- Degree or working towards one.
- Non‑medical prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards it.

£39,959 to £48,117 per annum (pro rata).
